Welsh & Welsh Schools Championships.

Sat. 2 July 2016. Welsh Schools T. & F. Championships - Cardiff.

An action packed day with 3 Welsh Records broken and 11 new championship records set, amongst a host of exciting events. The Afan Nedd Tawe team finished in overall 2nd. place being narrowly pipped
by the reigning champions Dyfed. Our club athletes won a amazing total of 20 medals.
Pride of place goes to Triple Gold medallist, Junior Boy, Owain Lloyd-Hughes who did the sprint double, and then added a sprint relay team gold to top his collection at the end of the day.
Our medallists were;
Senior Boys. Thomas John - Silver, 2000m S/chase. Senior Girls. Awen Lewis - Silver, 3000m.
Middle Boys. Ceirion Hopkins - Bronze, L. J. Relay, Silver. Kyle Jones & Josh Phillips - Silver, Relay.
Middle Girls. Olivia Michael - Silver, High Jump.
Sarah Watkins - Silver, Hammer Throw. Amy Phipps - 2k. Walk, Silver.
Jeri-Lynne Grabham - 2k. Walk, Bronze. Mari Watkins - 3000m, Bronze.
Junior Boys. Owain Lloyd-Hughes - Gold (3) 100m. 200m. & Relay. Sebastian Lewis - Gold, 800m.
Jamie Phillips - Silver, Discus. Marcus Dickinson - Gold, Hammer Throw. Silver, S P.
Junior Girls. Karolinka Bacakova - Gold, Hammer Throw. Bethany Moule - Gold, Javelin Throw.
After these championships the following athletes were selected to compete for the Welsh Schools
T. & F. Team at the SIAB. International in Ashford on Saturday 16 July 2016.
Ceirion Hopkins - 200m. Long Jump & Sprint Relay. Olivia Michael - High Jump.
Sarah Watkins - Hammer Throw. Bethany Moule - Javelin Throw. Amy Phipps - Walk.
Additionally, after success at the Gemau Cymru Judo championsips, Silver Medallist Medi Phillips has been selected for the Welsh Judo team to compete at The UK Schools Games in September.

Wednesday 20 July 2016. Welsh U20 International - Cardiff.
The Welsh 3000m Championships were held as part of this event, and a number of our endurance athletes achieved podium sucess;
Under 15 Boys. Gold Medal - Sebastian Lewis. Bronze - Thomas Callard.
Under 17 Women. Silver Medal - Mari Watkins. Bronze - Jeri-Lynne Grabham.

Additionally, Olivia Michael competed for the Welsh Schools U20 Team in the High Jump

Three of our young athletes were selected to compete for Wales at the Celtic Games to be held at Swansea on Saturday 6 August 2016. They were U18s Ceirion Hopkins (100m, & Relay) and
Olivia Michael (High Jump). U16s Bethany Moule (Javelin Throw).

Sat/Sun. 13/14 August 2016. Welsh Junior Championships - Newport.
Whilst there has been British Olympic medal success in Brazil, our young athletes won a shoal of medals at our National Championships. Outstandingly, young Sebastian Lewis did the middle distance double winning the U15 Boys 800m &1500m. events. Incorporating the results of the limited events held earlier

U13 Boys. Kian Abraham - Silver, 1500m.
U15 Boys. Owain Lloyd-Hughes - Silver,100m. Harry Davies - Gold, Hammer Throw, Bronze, Discus.
Sebastian Lewis - Gold, 1500m (CBP.) & 800m. Jamie Phillips - Gold, Discus.
U 15 Girls. Bethany Moule - Gold, Javelin (also Gold in the U17 women`s event).
U17 Men. Ceirion Hopkins - Gold, Long Jump. Silver, 100m & 200m.
U17 Women. Sarah Watkins - Bronze, Hammer Throw, Bronze, Shot Put (U17 & U20 events).
Amy Phipps - Gold, 3k. Walk. Jeri-Lynne Grabham - Silver, 3k. Walk.
